Measures to promote gender equality and their impact
Maschinenfabrik Berthold HERMLE AG aims to increase the number of women working in the company in order to achieve greater diversity within the workforce and to address an increasing shortage of skilled workers. This applies, in particular, to positions with a technical emphasis that require training in industrial professions or so-called MINT subjects (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology), in which women are still underrepresented. When recruiting new staff, we call for at least a proportional consideration of women relative to the total number of applicants and specifically address potential young female applicants at events in schools and at so-called
"Girls’ Days". Further, we also encourage our female apprentices to become recruiting contacts. In addition, HERMLE offers part-time positions to improve the compatibility of work and family life, as well as job-related further training, provided this continues to enable swift and efficient operational processes overall. In 2017, the percentage of women in the industrial-technical sector at HERMLE rose from around 6% to roughly 7%. Moreover, we appointed a woman as a vocational training supervisor. In the commercial sector, the percentage of women was approximately 66% in 2017 (previous year: 60%). In other words, extensive gender equality has already been achieved in this sector.
Measures to promote gender equality
In consultation with the works council, Maschinenfabrik Berthold HERMLE AG has introduced the Remuneration Framework Agreement (ERA) for the metalworking industry, which ensures a uniform, comparable evaluation of working roles and the corresponding grouping of jobs into salary levels. This also ensures equal pay for men and women when performing equivalent activities or jobs with the same evaluation.
