The new interface will provide our customers with a simple means of integration in IT ecosystems. The semantic structure provides the basis for the manufacturer-independent plug & play networking of machine tools and could emerge as the machine tool industry standard in future. umati is a component in Hermle's portfolio of digital modules; its purpose is to open up additional potential for increased productivity through transparent production processes – smoothing the path to the smart factory of tomorrow.
At the EMO 2019, Hermle showcased the connection of a C 32 U machining centre with the HS flex handling system via umati as well as the integration of third-party machine tools into the HIMS dashboard (HIMS: Hermle Information Monitoring Software). This shows how we are fully behind the development of umati and participating in the common effort towards setting up international interface standards across the machine tool industry. HIMS provides our customers with an overview of all their manufacturing facilities and visualizes essential information about NC programs, tools, temperatures, maintenance work, energy consumption and orders.
